Il Carroponte a Sesto San Giovanni (Milano) è un vecchio stabilimento della Breda abbandonato, che recentemente è stato riqualificato e trasformato in un parco ed in un importante area concerti che ogni estate ospita un tour di appuntamenti musicali sempre più ricco. L’estate scorsa si sono esibiti diversi cantanti italiani come Fabri Fibra, Caparezza, Nina Zilli e gli Afterhours. In questa fotografia, scattata dai piedi del palco, usando un obiettivo fish-eye potete vederlo in tutta la sua (distorta) grandezza.

Con questo scatto, sono arrivato terzo al Concorso Fotografico Carroponte 2011. Sezione: giù dal palco. Gran bella soddisfazione!
Giovedi 24 maggio, proprio al Carroponte, prima del concerto inaugurale della stagione, verrano premiati i vincitori, sul palco. Se volete passare, siete tutti benvenuti.

The Carroponte in Sesto San Giovanni (near Milan) is an old abandoned Breda factory which has recently been redeveloped and turned into a park and into an important area for concerts. Last summer several Italian singers like Fabri Fibra, Caparezza, Nina Zilli and the Afterhours, played here. In this photograph, taken from the feet of the stage, using a fisheye lens, you can see it in all its (distorted) size.

With this photo, I finished third at the “Carroponte Photo Contest 2011. Section: off the stage”. Great satisfaction!

Pro Sesto

Oggi si è conclusa la mia terza stagione a bordo campo con la Pro Sesto. Per il secondo anno consecutivo la squadra di calcio della mia città ha vinto il campionato, arrivando alla serie D (la quinta serie del calcio italiano). Congratulazioni!
Quest’anno ho assistito da vicino a tante vittorie e ho visto tante splendide giocate. Per commemorare questa splendida stagione, potete vedere tre foto, ma cliccando qua vedrete alcuni scatti cha riassumono tutto il campionato.

Today my third season on the sideline with Pro Sesto ended. For the second year, the football team of my town won the championship, coming to the Serie D (the fifth series of Italian football).
This year, I watched many victories and I saw many wonderful play and I want to congratulate with all the team. To commemorate this great season, here are three photos, but if you click here you can see some shots that sum up the whole championship.

The Tree of Annone

Qualche giorno fa, ho approfittato di una domenica di sole per fare un giro ad Annone, un piccolo paese in provincia di Lecco, in Lombardia. Passeggiando per i suoi vicoli e le sue stradine, mi sono imbattuto in questo imponente albero e ho subito apprezzato la simmetria dei suoi rami. Sarebbe bello poter tornare in diversi periodi dell’anno e fotografarlo nei suoi cambiamenti stagionali.

A few days ago, I took advantage of a beautiful sunny sunday for taking a walk in Annone, a small village in the province of Lecco, in Lombardy. Walking through its narrow streets and its alleys, I came across this huge tree and I immediately liked the symmetry of its branches. It would be nice to go back there in the different times of the year and photograph it in its seasonal changes.

Safeco Field @ Seattle

Ultimamente si parla molto di baseball anche qua in Italia, perchè i Seattle Mariners hanno fatto esordire il primo giocatore italiano nella MLB (Major League Baseball): Alex Liddi. Nel settembre 2011 questo giovane giocatore nato a San Remo, ha realizzato il suo primo fuori campo e adesso è già arrivato a quota 5. Complimenti Alex!
Nel agosto 2007 quando sono stato a Seattle, con i miei amici, ho assistito al Safeco Field, ad un partita di baseball proprio tra i Mariners e i Los Angeles Angels. L’incontro dopo 9 inning fini in parità e si dovette andare oltre per trovare un vincitore. Al dodicesimo inning i Seattle vinsero 8-7 con grande gioia di tutti i suoi numerosi tifosi.
Questo è uno sport molto particolare, fatto di lunghe attese e rapidi momenti di esaltazione. I nostri posti molto in alto all’interno dello stadio e la durata della partita (quasi 5 ore), mi hanno permesso di fare diverse fotografie. Queste sono le due che preferisco: nello scatto in alto, il sole è da poco tramontato alle spalle dello skyline di Seattle (si può anche vedere lo Space Needle, la famosa torre) Nella foto sotto, i giocatori salutano i tifosi esultanti e felici per la vittoria.

Recently there is much talk about baseball even here in Italy. In the Seattle Mariners debut the first Italian player in the MLB (Major League Baseball): Alex Liddi. In September 2011 this young player, born in San Remo, made his first home run and now he has arrived at 5. Congratulations Alex!
In August 2007 when I was in Seattle with my friends, I attended, at the Safeco Field, to a baseball game between the Mariners and the Los Angeles Angels.  After 9 innings, the match ends in a draw and they had to go further to find the winner. On the twelfth inning, Seattle won 8-7 with great joy of all his many fans.
This is a very particular sport, made of long expectations and faster moments of exaltation. Our seats so high in the stadium and the duration of the game (almost 5 hours), allowed me to make several photos. These are the two I prefer: on the image on top, the sun has just gone down on behind the Seattle skyline (you can also see the Space Needle) and in the photo below, players greet the fans cheering and happy for the victory.

Kinkaku-Ji

Il Kinkaku-ji, a Kyoto, è uno dei templi più famosi del Giappone. Costruito nel 1397 da Ashikaga Yoshimitsu come abitazione privata, fu convertito successivamente in un tempio Zen. Brucio due volte durante la guerra degli Onin e nel corso dei secoli, fu ristrutturato in diverse occasioni. Gli ultimi lavori risalgono al 2003, anno in cui venne sistemato il tetto.
E’ alto tre piani e gli ultimi due sono interamente ricoperti di lamine d’oro, che gli sono valse il soprannome di Padiglione d’oro. Sul tetto è possibile vedere una hō-ō, cioè la fenice cinese (anch’essa ovviamente d’oro).
Si trova all’interno di un splendido giardino (kaiyū-shiki) e si riflette sullo stagno chiamato Kyōko-chi (lo Specchio), dove sorgono molte piccole isole e pietre che rappresentano la storia della creazione buddista.

The Kinkaku-ji, in Kyoto, is one of the most famous temples in Japan. Built in 1397 by Ashikaga Yoshimitsu as a private house, was later converted into a Zen temple. It burn twice during the war of the Onin and in the centuries it was renovated in several occasions. The last works dates back to 2003, when the roof was repaired.
It’s three floors high and the last two are completely covered by golden leaf, which gave him the nickname of the Golden Pavilion. On the roof, you can see the Ho-o, that is the Chinese phoenix (obviously gold).
It is located in a beautiful garden called Kaiyu-shiki. near the pond named Kyoko-chi (the Mirror), where there are many small islands and rocks representing the Buddhist creation story.
